Video Conferencing for Fall Meeting November 4

The SDPTA will be offering a video conferencing option for the Fall Meeting this year utilizing the Dakota Digital Network (DDN). This is a video conferencing network that will allow you to view and interact with the meeting in Sioux Falls in real time from various locations opened around the state.

We are needing those interested in utilizing the video conferencing to contact us in advance so we can open the sites in your area. Currently we are considering sites in Aberdeen, Brookings, Mitchell, Huron, Pierre, Watertown, Yankton, and Rapid City. However, if we do not have advanced notice of members planning to attend we will likely not open the site in area.

It is important to contact me soon if you are wishing to participate via video conference so we can make the proper arrangements. Please email me, Andy York at and include the subject line SDPTA.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to seeing you all this Fall,

Andy York, PT

Technology Committee Chair

Therapy Assistants-Billing SD Medicaid information from DSS

Please be advised that beginning with dates of service on and after 7/1/17 physical therapy assistants (PTA), speech pathology assistants (SLPA), and occupational therapy assistants (OTA) can bill under their enrolled supervising therapist using the HM modifier. Services should be billed on a CMS 1500 claim form with the Supervising NPI in box 24J.  The Health Home, Primary Care Physician, Ordering, Referring, or Prescribing NPI should be listed in Box 17B. The HM Modifier will reduce the allowed payment by 50%.

This does NOT apply to School District claims.
